Passion by Lauren Kate

“I don’t know how you can stand it. Over and over again, the same sadness—”
He lifted her up. “The same ecstasy—”
“The same fire that kills everything—”
“The same passion that ignites it all again.

You don’t know. You can’t remember how wonderful—”
“I’ve seen it. I do know.”

Luce would die for Daniel.

And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way. . . .

Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime . . . going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.

Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.

Sweeping across centuries, PASSION is the third novel in the unforgettably epic FALLEN series.

My Review:

I have just finished this book and I am sitting here trying to put all of my thoughts into words. I have a lot of feelings rolling around in my head and I am actually pondering if I loved this book or not?

This book was kind of like a prequel. The point is to show all of Luce and Daniel’s past lives and everything that they had been through. It was very tragic going through it all and seeing them fall in love just for Luce to die over and over again. Luce got a glimpse as to the agony that Daniel had to face each time her death was imminent. Daniel was able to come in contact and speak with some of his past selves to remind himself that there may still be some hope left after all.

Now, the incoming of “Bill” was a strange addition to the mix. I just thought that it put a very strange twist on the story. It did all reveal itself toward the end of the book, but felt awkward while reading.

The ending left the reader hanging, of course. The next and final book in the series is called Rapture, due out in 2012. I am excited to see how this whole series ends and have lots of questions as to what will happen to all of the fallen angels. Will Luce and Daniel get to live their happily ever after? Will Cam get to decide to go with Heaven and not be evil anymore? I guess that I will just have to wait to find out!

“I’ll always choose you.” Yes that was the word. “Every single lifetime, I’ll choose you. Just as you have always chosen me. Forever.”

  1. I read the first one. I bought the hardcover, because I loved the cover art and I was sure I was going to love it. But it fell short of my expectations. It was just a lot of concepts crammed into one book. She could have developed each better and filled three books with what was on the first. Plus she must have said the love interest was hot like a hundred times. So I decided not to read the other two… But I hate leaving something unfinished. I am thinking of reading this book, but your review seems less than stellar.
