Warning: NOT A YOUNG ADULT BOOK!!!

“I am going to have coffee with Christian Grey… and I hate coffee.”

Rating: 5 Stars!!

When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind – until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time.

The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her – but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny.

Can their relationship transcend physical passion? Will Ana find it in herself to submit to the self-indulgent Master? And if she does, will she still love what she finds?

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

My Review:

After I had read Beautiful Disaster, and Loved it, a few friends suggested that I read this book. I am going to try to put into words my feelings on this book because honestly, I am still reeling!

After starting, I could not put it down. I stayed up until 4 am just to finish then had to proceed to take a cold shower! The whole time while reading in the back of my mind I could not help but think “man, my husband is so boring!” LOL!!!

From their very first meeting, Christian and Anastasia feel the sexual tension. He is easily amused by her and she finds him very arrogant and frustrating. She cannot wait to get out of his office and run for the hills, thinking of how lucky she is that she will never have to see him again. Even though she cannot get him out of her head. Until he shows up at her job, things just spiral from there.

I immediately liked Ana. She is young, innocent and sweet. I really was torn for her through out the whole book and understood her need to stay with Christian, even though he seemed like the last thing she needed.

Christian has many demons and secrets hiding behind his walls. He is so private and it tended to be very frustrating wanting to know more about him. He was abandoned as a child by his prostitute/addict mother and had been adopted. He does not like to discuss his past, but it still tortures him daily and it affects his ability to love.

Christian takes Ana on a downward spiral of sex, pain and infatuation. There were many things that bothered me about Mr. Grey, but the most would have to be his stalker nature. I found it odd that he was able to find Ana on a moments notice. I think that would personally make me a little skeptical.

My favorite part of the book was Ana & Christian’s bantering emails back and forth. They made me giggle and just seemed so realistic.

The sex scenes in this book left me breathless and blushing! Definitely NOT YA in the least which is unusual for me to read. I guess that I was intrigued??? Enough so to run right out and get book 2! I cannot say enough about this series, it is one that you just have to experience for yourself.

“- “Why don’t you like to be touched?”
– “Because I’m fifty shades of fucked-up, Anastasia”

Coming up next, book 2, Fifty Shades Darker….Stay tuned!!!

  1. I loved Fifty Shades of Grey! So excited for the third book. This is usually not the type of book I read either because usually the story falls short behind the hot sex scenes in these type of books. This book had both a story that kept me intrigued along with scenes that left me needing a cold shower!
