When Heath starts working at the newly renovated Rock Harbor Opera House, he meets Molly, a young dancer who awakens in him a desire to start over and move on. But, when he begins having visions of a half-burned girl in a white dress, he starts to think he may be slipping even further over the edge.

As the apparent hauntings become more intense, Heath begins to fear for his safety. With the help of his friend Josie, Heath discovers an unsettling secret that ties the mysterious girl to both their families. When two of their friends die unexpectedly, Josie and Heath realize that something, or someone, is after the children of those who wronged Catherine, and they are next.

Review

I am so happy to be introducing all of you to this book, if you have not already heard of it. I was a beta reader for Mr. Hutchison before the book was actually published and I loved it back then!

First, let me rave over the cover. Isn’t it AMAZING??? I love the fire with the hands and even the characters. The Ouija board in the background is a wonderful touch and makes the book jump out at you even more.

This book is like watching a horror movie, instead of sitting in front of the tele, you are reading it. I was absorbed from the very first pages. I actually cried for Catherine and felt her terror.

The character of Heath was well written. He was a typical boy that anyone could fall in love with. There were a few skeletons in his closet that he was trying very hard to overcome. He relies on his new friends to help him through the past and the trouble that lies ahead.

There are many twists, turns and surprises lurking around every corner. Each time you think that you have it all figured out, the writer throws another “wrench” into it and you are back to thinking again. The ending was all tied up and leaves the reader very satisfied. I highly recommend this stand alone!

O’Dell’s Top Ten Favorite Movies and Why

I am so excited to have O’Dell here with us today and I have asked him what his top ten movies are and why…

1. “Once” – I adore this movie. It’s simple, sweet and real. I love the music and the journey these two characters take.

2. “The End of the Affair” – This is a true acting piece. Juliann Moore and Ralph Fiennes are both such strong actors, and this movie puts them at the top of their game. Throw in Stephen Rea to the mix and you have near perfection.

3. “Ladyhawke” – I was obsessed with this movie when I was in high school. I thought it was so tragic. Michelle Pfeifer plays Izabeau and Rutger Hauer plays Captain Etienne, doomed lovers who have had a curse placed on them that they may never spend time together in their human forms. By day, Isabeau turns into a hawk and by night Etienne turns into a wolf. The only way to break the curse is for the evil bishop who placed it on them to see them both, together, in human form. It’s a love story and has lots of action. The only thing dragging it down is the cheesy, 80’s synth music.

4. “The Princess Bride” – Another movie I was obsessed with in the 80’s. It’s funny, cute and romantic.

5.“Chicago” – This is an amazing adaptation from stage to screen. It was so effective. It’s almost better than the stage version. The choreography is breathtaking.

6. “Scream” – I love slasher movies. They scare the crap out of me, and I always scream like a little girl, but I love it. What I especially loved about “Scream” is that it never takes itself too seriously.

7. “Heathers” – The original “Mean Girls”, this movie always has been, and always will be, one of my favorites.

8. “Sixteen Candles” – John Hughes was brilliant. Every one of his movies captured the 80’s so well. These are the movies of my teen years, and “Sixteen Candles” was one of the first of his that I remember seeing.

9. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)” – Going back to my love/hate relationship with horror movies, this one terrified me. My biggest fear (other than zombies) is to break down in the middle of nowhere and be stalked by some psycho who wants to wear my skin.

10. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1 & 2” – Out of all of the HP movies, I think I loved this one the most. How could you not?
