Conjure by Lea Nolan
Be careful what you search for…
Sixteen-year-old twins Emma and Jack Guthrie hope for a little summer adventure when they find an eighteenth-century message in a bottle revealing a hidden pirate treasure. With their best friend—and Emma’s secret crush—Cooper Beaumont, they discover the treasure, and accidentally unleash an ancient Gullah Hoodoo curse that attacks Jack with the wicked flesh-eating Creep and promises to steal Cooper’s soul on his approaching eighteenth birthday. Determined to save the two people she loves the most, Emma apprentices herself to an elderly sea island hoodoo root doctor who agrees to teach her the magic to undo the hex while she works to unravel the riddle of the pirate’s message.
With the clock ticking down to Cooper’s birthday and Jack turning into a walking skeleton, Emma must hone her new skills to conjure visions of the past to discover the curse’s origins, steal an antique ruby, battle a horde of terrifying demon dogs, and summon ancient spirits who can help set things right before it’s too late.

Hunger Games DVD Release Party
So, The Hunger Games DVD/Blue Ray was released this past Saturday. Me and my children being HUGE HG fans decided to brave the elements and join our local Wal-Mart for their Midnight Release Party. We had such a great experience at Target for the release of BD Part 1, that we wanted to join in on the fun again.
Now, Wal-Mart has been advertising online and on TV that they were having a huge release party with exclusive content premiered and trivia and giveaways from 11 to midnight. The kids were stoked and we all dressed up in our HG garb and darted off to Wal-Mart at 10 pm.
We were sadly disappointed! When we arrived, no one could tell us anything! The workers just kept saying that they did not know anything about it and when asked where they would be handing out the DVDs, they just kept saying “ugh, around here somewhere, I guess”. This was the worst release party ever! The kids were very upset, especially my oldest, she was very much looking forward to the trivia. We kind of just formed a line and waited it out. I guess to pacify us, they gave us HG trading cards, which we were suppose to get with the DVD anyway, so, really it was nothing special. Then at about 10 mins til midnight, they threw up a table with mini cupcakes and soda. It was a nice thought, but by then, we were all furious anyway. I felt bad for the staff, especially since they had a whole group of irate people on their hands!!!
When midnight finally came, they threw up the stand with all the DVD/Blu-ray and it was basically a free for all! No organization what so ever. I guess my biggest complaint is that if Wal-Mart wants to advertise a big movie event, then they should deliver. I WILL be writing them a letter next!
Needless to say, we got our DVDs and high tailed it out of there! The kids were happy then.
