Review: Heartbeat by Faith Sullivan

A young couple kissingPublished February 5, 2013

Source: From author in exchange for an honest review.

Katie and Adam are afraid of love.

She carries the scars of a first kiss gone terribly wrong.

He uproots his life to flee the stinging betrayal of an ex.

When trust is no longer an option, all romance is suspect.

As a young paramedic, Adam rescues people for a living but cannot save himself. Katie, just out of high school, struggles with a tortured home life she cannot escape.

Everything changes when Katie hops into the front seat of Adam’s ambulance. Overwhelmed by what they are feeling, neither possess the confidence to make the first move. They walk away from each other, full of regret.

To find her, Adam risks his future. To be with him, Katie sacrifices her security.

Little do they know, what little time they do have, is being measured by a heartbeat that is slowly dying out.

My Thoughts

Okay, I love romance! And I love New Adult! So when I had received a request from Ms. Sullivan to review this book, I was all over it!

Katie is sweet and beautiful. Her home life kind of stinks though:( She lives with her Dad and Grandmother. Her father kind of looks at her as a chore. He really is mean and nasty to her and sometimes doesn’t even give her the time of day. He acts as if it was her fault for being born! Now Grandma on the other hand is great! She is so loving to Katie and really “mothers” her!

Adam is really sweet and swoonworthy! (yes, another one! Damn these books!) He had a bad relationship in the past and is kind of on the fence if he wants another one any time soon. But, he cannot get Katie out of his head and he just needs a little push from her (or the powers that be) to send him in the right directions and have her in is arms.

I loved the storyline and it was a really easy read BUT, it took FOREVER for these two characters to get together! That fact really does have the reader NOT being able to put the book down. Just having to read on to finally have some peace of mind that they connected. There still are a few questions rattling around in my mind about both of these characters and I am hoping that they get answered in the next book.

The ending was earth shattering!!! *like really* Ms. Sullivan leaves us on one whopper of a cliffhanger and I need the next book like NOW!!!!
