Lillia has never had any problems dealing with boys who like her. Not until this summer, when one went too far. No way will she let the same thing happen to her little sister.

Kat is tired of the rumours, the insults, the cruel jokes. It all goes back to one person– her ex-best friend– and she’s ready to make her pay.

Four years ago, Mary left Jar Island because of a boy. But she’s not the same girl anymore. And she’s ready to prove it to him.

Three very different girls who want the same thing: sweet, sweet revenge. And they won’t stop until they each had a taste.

My Thoughts

This is another one that I had sitting on my shelf since last year:( I know, I know, I must be crazy! I think sometimes I get so overwhelmed with new books coming out and second books in a series that I HAVE TO READ LIKE NOW, that some of the others get forgotten.

I devoured this book while on vacation and keep telling my daughter that she has to read it!! YES, it was that good!

I enjoyed the whole story line. Three girls that want revenge! With good reason of course:) They each have their own reason to take out revenge on certain people and the way they connect with each other is pure coincidence.

Let’s meet our cast of characters, shall we?

Mary: Mary had left Jar Island due to being severely bullied by a certain boy. She is returning now to start a fresh school year       with a fresh outlook and after she had lost some weight. She can’t wait to see the look on the boy’s face when he realizes who she is and how beautiful she has become!

Kat: Kat used to be part of the “in-crowd” but ever since she had been shunned by the “head princess” her life has been on a downward spiral. She gets taunted and made fun of daily and she just can’t take it anymore!

Lillia: Lillia is the “head princess’s” sidekick. They had gone to a party one night and things had gotten a little out of hand after much consumed alcohol. She is very protective of her little sister and anyone that goes near her needs to deal with Lillia. She refuses to let her sister down, even if she doesn’t realize that it’s for her own good!

Three different girls with three different stories but it all leads back to one group of friends. They take them out one by one and leave the best for last! Although, all plans are not fail safe:(

My favorite character…

Mary, definitely! She is so innocent and sweet. How could anyone NOT love her? Even after everything that has happened to her, she still feels bad for the revenge that is about to be taken. She is a very complex character and I still am not sure if I really have a grasp on who she is?

The Ending…

The ending was HUGE!!!! The authors knew exactly what they were doing when they threw us that curve ball! You are really left on a cliffhanger with lives hanging in the balance and you will want NEED the next book ready and available!!!

When sweet revenge turns sour… Book two of a trilogy fromNew York Times, bestselling author Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian.

Lillia, Kat, and Mary had the perfect plan. Work together in secret to take down the people who wronged them. But things didn’t exactly go the way they’d hoped at the Homecoming Dance.

Not even close.

For now, it looks like they got away with it. All they have to do is move on and pick up the pieces, forget there ever was a pact. But it’s not easy, not when Reeve is still a total jerk and Rennie’s meaner than she ever was before.

And then there’s sweet little Mary…she knows there’s something seriously wrong with her. If she can’t control her anger, she’s sure that someone will get hurt even worse than Reeve was. Mary understands now that it’s not just that Reeve bullied her—it’s that he made her love him.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, burn for a burn. A broken heart for a broken heart. The girls are up to the task. They’ll make Reeve fall in love with Lillia and then they will crush him. It’s the only way he’ll learn.

It seems once a fire is lit, the only thing you can do is let it burn…

My Thoughts

Oh these girls! Will they ever learn? This actually cracked me up! I thought this book would all be about them trying to pick up the pieces that their revenge scheme created BUT, then they go and create another plan!!! Yikes!

So now the mission is for Lillia to literally make Reeve fall in love with her and then to drop him like a hot potato. This will take care of Reeve and Rennie for good! AND, YET AGAIN, plans do not go the way they are suppose to!

Lillia and Mary seem to be changing in this book where poor Kat is basically staying the same.

The girls….

Kat: Kat is just happy to have friends again. She is still trying to figure out her love life and she also seems the one with her head on straight the most out of all three. I started to REALLY like her in this second book!

Lillia: Lillia is having a complicated love life and there is a little love triangle going on here. She starts to feel really bad about the things that they are doing and she takes a huge risk with her heart!!!

Mary: Oh sweet little Mary. Mary has changed the most in my opinion. She is no longer sweet and innocent listening to what the other girls tell her. She is angry and full of the need for revenge. I was not sure what to make of the little supernatural twist that is going on here and we are kind of left hanging yet again. I think I know what is going on with Mary but as we all know…..sometimes we may think we know but, we actually have no idea!

Now I just have to wait for Burn For Burn 3, Ashes for Ashes to come out sometime in 2014! This wait is going to be excruciating!!!
