callie and kaydenNew York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jessica Sorensen brings her Callie and Kayden series to the Forever list with a moving story of young love in THE COINCIDENCE OF CALLIE & KAYDEN.

For Kayden, suffering in silence was the only way to survive. If he was lucky, he could keep his head down, do as he was told, and make it through the day. But one night it seemed like his luck—and his life—might finally end . . . until an angel named Callie appeared just in time to rescue him. Callie has never believed in luck. Not since her twelfth birthday when everything was taken from her. After the worst was over, she locked up her feelings and vowed never to tell anyone what happened. Now, six years later, she continues to struggle with the painful secret that threatens to consume her. When fate lands Kayden and Callie at the same college, Kayden is determined to get to know the beautiful girl who changed his destiny. Quiet and reserved, Callie still fears letting anyone else into her world. But Kayden is certain that Callie has come back into his life for a reason. And the more he tries to be a part of her life, the more he realizes that, this time, it’s Callie who needs to be saved . . . THE COINCIDENCE OF CALLIE & KAYDEN is also available as an e-book (March 19, 2013; $1.99; 9781455576494).

My Thoughts

On the audio…..

I have read and listened to the audio on this book and I can tell you that the audio is really good! The narrator is Leslie Bellair and although she has narrated quite a few books, this is the first one that I have listened to. She has a really great voice for the character of Callie. It is quiet and timid just the way that I picture Callie sounding. She does pretty well with Kayden as well as some of the other side characters. I definitely would listen to another book narrated by this reader!!!

Who doesn’t love a story being told to them while you can lay back and think of the scenes playing in your mind. Think back to when you were a child and you loved to listen to your parent’s read to you. This is basically the same thing when listening to an audio book!

On the story line…

I really enjoyed the story line to this book. Callie is basically a hermit. She is a good student and can’t wait to just go off to college and leave her past behind. A chance encounter with Kayden at his graduation party leaves her a bit disturbed but she just keeps thinking of leaving…two days, two days.

Fast forward to college and Callie has a new best friend, that is a boy! She hasn’t been able to open up to anyone in sooo long, but she feels comfortable around him. When she bumps into Kayden, she is kind of surprised first, that he is here at her college and second because he does not seem to recognize her.

What she doesn’t know is that he kind of does recognize her and feels like he owes her a lot! Due to the alternating POVs, we get a look into Kayden’s head and he is determined to show Callie just how greatful he is for her help one crazy evening. He will not stop until he does!!!

On the characters….

I enjoyed Callie & Kayden as individuals but, I enjoyed them so much more when they were together. I felt that they really complemented each other and Kayden helped to bring Callie out of her shell. Callie changed the most through the book! I look back to the beginning when she was so timid and shy, by the end, she seemed a lot more confident and comfortable with herself.

Conclusion…..

I definitely recommend this book and audiobook to anyone whom enjoys a good NA love story. This book is basically about two broken people finding some sort of normalcy in each other. It was beautiful!! I am REALLY looking forward to the sequel, The Redemption of Callie and Kayden which was published July 30, 2013. *Runs to find the book to purchase*
