Release Date: 12/02/13
There are two inherent truths in the world: life as we know it is over, and monsters are real. The Pestas came in the night, spreading their pox, a deadly plague that decimated the population. Kat, one of the unlucky few who survived, is determined to get to her last living relative and find shelter from the pox that continues to devastate the world. When it mutates and becomes airborne, Kat is desperate to avoid people because staying alone might be her only chance to stay alive.
That is, until she meets Dylan. Dylan, with his easy smile and dark, curly hair, has nowhere to go and no one to live for. He convinces Kat there can be safety in numbers, that they can watch out for each other. So the unlikely couple set off together through the barren wasteland to find a new life – if they can survive the roaming Pestas, bands of wild, gun-toting children, and piles of burning, pox-ridden bodies.
Everyone knows how much I love a little end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it apocolypse story! When I saw the cover to this book, I knew that I just had to jump on the bandwagon and join the blog tour. I mean come on! Just look at it! A little bit creepy, a little bit intriguing!
Kat can tend to be a psycho….
But still, I loved her! I am sure that if we were all going through the same ordeal, we would be a little bit hesitant to trust people too! And hey, it kept her alive so that has to count for something. She trusts noone and is doing exactly what her parent’s had told her to. Lay low and try to make it to her uncle’s house which proves to be harder than she thought. At first, I wasn’t so sure about her. In her past she tended to be a tad bit superficial, but is learning the hard way what matters most out of life.
Dylan! La Swooooooon!!!!
When we first meet Dylan, he had my heart breaking for him! I wanted to just run out and give him a hug. It takes him a while to actually get into Kat’s good graces, but it is sooo worth it. There was one point that it really seemed like he wasn’t quite the character that I thought he was but, he quickly redeemed himself🙂
Cannot decide if the ending was satisfying?
The ending was kind of wrapped up and kind of not? I am crossing my fingers that there is another book and this is a series because the end was left kind of open-ended! And to be honest with you, I could use a little bit more Dylan! Hawt!
