Mal’s Throwback Thursday!

 Dr. Seuss
Random House March 12th 1957
Pages 61

Poor Dick and Sally. It’s cold and wet and they’re stuck in the house with nothing to do . . . until a giant cat in a hat shows up, transforming the dull day into a madcap adventure and almost wrecking the place in the process!

The Cat in the Hat was one of my favorite Dr Seuss books as a child, along with Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Fox in Sox, The Lorax and Where is My Mother?

All the naughtiness and thrill, what child wouldn’t be enthralled with the scenario. A very funny adventure with a c r a z y cat!

Kids all alone, a stranger in the house, a cat that talks, destroying a house, absurd!!!! Far fetched!!!

The rhyming and its cadence amazed me, provided delight and laughter. I loved reading it myself and having it read aloud.

The illustrations add to the whole experience, heck just thinking about this book makes me smile big. Just a fun all around read.

What is your Throwback Thursday?

Mal
