The Bees

The debut novel by the writer, Laline Paull, and even while the book was published barely on May 6th, its reading has become viral between the readers’ communities.

Born into the lowest class of her society, Flora 717 is a sanitation bee, only fit to clean her orchard hive. Living to accept, obey and serve, she is prepared to sacrifice everything for her beloved holy mother, the Queen. Yet Flora has talents that are not typical of her kin. And while mutant bees are usually instantly destroyed, Flora is reassigned to feed the newborns, before becoming a forager, collecting pollen on the wing. Then she finds her way into the Queen’s inner sanctum, where she discovers secrets both sublime and ominous. Enemies roam everywhere, from the fearsome fertility police to the high priestesses who jealously guard the Hive Mind. But Flora cannot help but break the most sacred law of all, and her instinct to serve is overshadowed by a desire, as overwhelming as it is forbidden…

The Three

This is the debut novel by the writer Sarah Lotz. Published on May 20th.

Four simultaneous plane crashes. Three child survivors. A religious fanatic who insists the three are harbingers of the apocalypse. What if he’s right?

The world is stunned when four commuter planes crash within hours of each other on different continents. Facing global panic, officials are under pressure to find the causes. With terrorist attacks and environmental factors ruled out, there doesn’t appear to be a correlation between the crashes, except that in three of the four air disasters a child survivor is found in the wreckage.

Dubbed ‘The Three’ by the international press, the children all exhibit disturbing behavioural problems, presumably caused by the horror they lived through and the unrelenting press attention. This attention becomes more than just intrusive when a cult led by a charismatic minister insists that the survivors are three of the four harbingers of the apocalypse. The Three are forced to go into hiding, but as the children’s behaviour becomes increasingly disturbing, even their guardians begin to question their miraculous survival…

Godzilla

The King of the Monsters returns in this novelization, published on May 20th, based on the feature film currently in theaters yet.

This novelization is a written version faithfully to the events shown in the film, with some “extra scenes” especially on minor characters like Ford Brody (an army lieutenant), Elle (his wife) and Sam (his son) that obviously must have been some ideas that were eventually discarded and / or edited from the final film. There are other minor changes but overall it is a good novelization of the film.

Civilization is threatened by giant monsters able to cancel the modern technology and leave the army unable to attack. It is when nature calls its champion to restore balance, an unstoppable force of nature, the most terrifying protector of humankind … Godzilla, King of the Monsters!

Star Trek: The Original Series – “Serpents in the Garden”

Jeff Mariotte, popular writer, author of many novels in different franchises such as “Supernatural”, “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer”, “Angel” , “CSI ” and “Star Trek” returns this April 29th, in the book entitled “Serpents in the Garden” from ” Star Trek : The Original Series”.

This novel is a sequel to the events of the classic episode “A Private Little War”, and although it is helpful if you have seen the TV episode, nevertheless in the book is detailed the essential information to understand what happened before.

The plot is set a few months before “Star Trek : The Motion Picture”. Therefore, in this novel there aren’t Spock ( performing the Kolinahr ) or McCoy ( practicing medicine in the private sector) and the USS Enterprise is under refitting.

Admiral James Kirk took a controversial decision in the past, and now it seems to be returning to the planet Neural to see for himself the consequences of that decision that may well have forever changed the natural course of a primitive civilization.

When Link heads to New York City to start a music career, Ridley goes along for the ride-and she has her own reasons.
