First I have to say how insanely proud I am of Katie Hart. I was one of the many readers who had this on Wattpad. I remember impatiently waiting for the next chapter to be uploaded, then devouring it in minutes as soon as it was. I’m glad that is story that I loved to so much, has been published and now hopefully even more people will read too. But I have to say I liked the Wattpad version better.

It’s crazy that I didn’t like this one just the same because it’s the same story, but yet it’s not. I knew going into this new version that it couldn’t be exactly like the old version I read when I was 17. I knew and understood that things had to change, I was even excited to see what was changed! But when I opened the book and the first chapter was pretty much unchanged, and the next chapter was the same, and the chapter after that, I got my hopes up, but then I kept waiting for things to happen, things I knew was to supposed to happen next and they didn’t and I was disappointed. I was disappointed that some of things; scenes and characters that made me love this book so much was cut, and then I eventually just lost interest.

The thing with re-reading books is that, your opinions sometimes change, especially if you read the book a long time ago. I read this book for the first time when I was 17, and back then I loved it and thought it was amazing. But today at 20, I think it’s just okay. The writing was okay, and the characters were okay, the relationship/ chemistry was okay. Everything about this book was just okay. One of things I was hoping that would change was the plot, not the whole plot but just some aspects. I think if it were more emotional, edgy, or suspenseful this story would have taken off!

Don’t let my opinions of this book, keep you from trying it out! Majority of my problems stem from the fact that I’ve already read it a while ago. But here’s some good. This book is funny, I laughed quite a bit while reading it. If you’re looking for a book with a different kind of relationship, a relationship that isn’t love at first sight mushiness, then pick this up. While I wasn’t overly impressed by the romance/chemistry between these two characters I liked that It wasn’t a typical new adult romance. If you’re looking for something a little bit darker, but is still light & fun then I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

    1. It’s been happening to me pretty often actually which sucks. A book that I absolutely loved in 2013 read it last year and couldn’t stand it at all. Now when I finish reading a book I’m asking myself “will I still love this in a couple of years?”

    2. I re-read a few book series that I loved as a teenager (i’m 26) a couple months ago and I still love them. Sometimes there are books that you think are really good and re-read them and find out that they were only good because of what you were experiencing at the time. Other times, you think they are really good and they still are really good as an adult. Guess it just depends on the author.
