Review: The Brightest Night by JLA

Published October 20th 2020 by Tor Teen

The thrills, drama, and intrigue continue in the third installment of the Origin series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout.

He is the darkest star.
You are the burning shadow.
And together, you will bring about the brightest night.

Less than a year ago, Evelyn Dasher was a normal girl, living an unremarkable life.

Now, she’s on the run, under the protection of the beautiful, deadly inhuman Luc. She’s been betrayed by those who were closest to her. And she’s learned truths about herself that she never saw coming–things she once knew, and was made to forget. Truths with devastating consequences. She’s caught in the eye of the storm.

She is the eye of the storm

“I love you, Evie. I fell in love with you within the first week I met you. I loved you before I even knew what that meant, and I loved you even when you were gone, and I loved you when you became someone else,” he said— pleaded, really. “And I fell even more in love with you when you walked through the doors of Foretoken. I’ve never stopped loving you. I never will.”

My Review

UGH!!! This series is too much for my sanity! When I start reading, I cannot stop. I have to read until the end because I HAVE to find out what is happening! I have a hard time concentrating on anything other than Luc & Evie! AND THEN…. Ms. Armentrout messes with me even more by leaving me on a cliffhanger! And not just any cliffhanger….but I am literally holding on for dear life with my pinky on the branch hanging over the cliff waiting to plummet to my death!!!

I adore Luc and Evie, almost as much as Daemon and Kat…almost! I feel like Daemon would walk through fire for Kat but Luc would burn down the entire galaxy for Evie. Their love is tried and true and I really adore how much Luc has endured for her.

The group feels like they have finally found some safe shelter to regroup but something is definitely amiss. I do not want to give away any secrets so I cannot say much more than that but soooo much happens in this book! That ending!!!! I cannot wait for the next book…I feel like this is always the case when it comes to JLA? I was left tearing up! Once they started, they would not stop! I need the next book ASAP!!

“Any actual important questions?” Daemon asked.

Grayson started to raise his hand.

“Yes, Grayson, all kids are dirty, and they all smell funny,” Daemon said before Grayson got the question out there.”
