Blog Tour: The Year of Four & The Blood of Kings

The Year of Four: A Phoebe Pope Novel Book One

Author: Nya Jade

Publisher: Dreamwell Publishing

Publication Date: October 29, 2012

Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

The students of Green Lane Academy roam their halls unaware that below their manicured campus exists a prestigious school of an entirely different kind . . .

Sixteen-year-old Phoebe Pope has enrolled at the Campus Below: a spy academy for shape-shifters hidden deep beneath the grounds of a boarding school whose humans unknowingly protect it. There, thanks to a carefully planned schedule, she leads a double life: spy trainee Below and normal teenager Above. As if two course loads, concealing a secret power she alone wields, and coping with her father’s recent death weren’t enough, Phoebe finds herself developing major feelings for actor and teen heartthrob Colten Chase, who attends the Campus Above and appears to be majoring in winning Phoebe’s heart. But when officials learn that Phoebe may be at the center of a startling prophecy, she becomes the target of shape-shifting assassins who will stop at nothing to suppress the truth. Now Phoebe’s lessons about Shaper’s enemies and spycraft take on great importance as a menace stalks the campus, with Phoebe as its target. Meanwhile, what began as an unlikely relationship with Colten, quickly morphs into heartache when she suspects that something sinister lurks beneath this movie star’s glitter and fame. Suddenly, Phoebe’s caught in a mesh of lies, betrayals, and danger where she doesn’t know who to trust, and needs to rely on herself—and her secret power—to get to the truth and to stay alive.

My Review:

I wasn’t quite sure going into this book because it had been so long since I read something in the paranormal genre, but I was pleasantly surprised enough to just want to keep on reading and not put it down.

I enjoyed the character of Pheobe and would love to be her sidekick. I also LOVED the idea of spy trainee and kick butt female characters in books so this one was right up my alley. Colten had me questioning his loyalty a few times during the book but he did make up for it at the end.

I also thought the idea of a special school hidden beneath a regular school was a brilliant idea. This opens the door for regular human characters to inter-mingle with the super spy characters.

This book ended with a bang and I was very happy that I had the next one ready to roll.

*One last little reason why I adored this book was the illustrations! How often do we get a YA book with illustrations?

The Blood of Kings: A Phoebe Pope Novel Book Two

Author: Nya Jade

Publisher: Dreamwell Publishing

Publication Date: April 14, 2017

Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

The thrilling, un-put-downable sequel to The Year of Four.

According to the press, Phoebe Pope and teen movie star Colten Chase are no longer an item—which is just how the happy new couple like it. And yet there’s trouble in paradise . . .

Phoebe is haunted by dreams that show her things she can’t possibly know about—including a pact between Colten and a wanted assassin. In the daylight, she struggles to keep a newly emerging power hidden, even as her hands itch to wield it.

Meanwhile, in the wake of their escape from a Vigo crèche, Phoebe and her fellow Hyphas study under lock and key at the Campus Below. As the foursome wait to see who among them will fulfill the prophecy, someone dear to Phoebe is kidnapped by a powerful Vigo determined to use her to spy on the Shaper royalty. When the Hyphas are called to the Royal Court, Phoebe refuses to heed warnings of imminent danger for she will do whatever it takes to rescue her loved one.

But once at court, nothing is as it first appears. A sinister force controls some royals, while others whisper behind closed doors about forbidden alliances. And as Phoebe draws on her courage to complete the task set by her enemy, she makes a startling discovery—one that upends her father’s memory.

With dangerous conspiracies surfacing, Phoebe must uncover what the Royal Shapers really want from her, and decide whether there’s room for Colten in her unraveling life.

My Review:

Woah, woah, woah!

I thought that nothing could top the first book but this one was so much better!

The characters seem more mature while they are trying to find out the Vigo’s next move and the relationship between Pheobe and Colten is stronger than ever.

The book picks up immediately where the first one left off. I felt like there was even more excitement in this book with every twist and turn of events! This book gave me all of the emotions…tears, laughter, love and hatred!

The ending was a little cliffhangerish…not on a huge level but enough to where you will want the book soon!

Excerpt from:
THE YEAR OF FOUR
A PHOEBE POPE NOVEL (Book 1)
by NYA JADE
The instant Phoebe stepped into
the Great Hall, the scent of sweet spices wafted into her nostrils. She stood
still, trying to absorb the scene before her. A large, two-story dome glistened
at the center of the cavernous room—a glass structure embellished with several
golden images of a lion’s head. Countless ornamental glass bottles ablaze with
firelight formed a circle around the base of the dome, washing the room in warm
light. Inside, long tables, garnished with white moon flowers, had been
arranged in three rows in front of a wide stage. The festive tables were packed
with hundreds of students whose backs faced Phoebe and Hayley.
Phoebe elbowed Hayley. “Amazing,
huh?”
“Unreal,” Hayley gushed. “Now
what?”
“Over there.” Phoebe nodded toward
the only two empty seats at the last row of tables near the dome’s entrance.
Hayley charged forward, pulling
Phoebe along with her.
“Don’t look,” Hayley whispered,
“but we’re getting the evil eye.”
“Crap.” Phoebe cringed at the
disapproving glare she got from some faculty members. Great
first impression
, she thought.
“Next,” a commanding male baritone
bellowed, as Phoebe and Hayley settled into their seats. “I call before you
Xavier Reno.”
Phoebe’s eyes followed an
elaborate marble staircase, one of a pair that spiraled upward to a balcony
that was situated under the dome’s ceiling and to the right side of the stage.
There, a middle-aged man with a prominent aquiline nose and deep sunken eyes
stood peering down at the crowd. He wore a purple toga that swathed him in
silken waves. From her father’s description, Phoebe knew at once that this man
must be Professor Yori, Headmaster of the Campus Below.
Phoebe turned her attention to the
stage where a male student draped in an ivory toga rose from a bench. After a
nervous glance at a blond, heavyset girl next to him, also in a toga, who gave
an encouraging smile, the boy moved forward, tugging up fistfuls of cloth to
prevent tripping as he walked. He arrived at center stage, and cautiously
picked up a luminous object from a round, gilded table.
Hayley gasped, shifting in her
seat for a better view. “Utaviium,” she said, faster than Phoebe could think
it. And it was. Thin and cylindrical, Utaviium was a pale blue crystal
enchanted to capture and hold a single bolt of lightning. It was beautiful to
look at; both of the girls sat transfixed, focused on the frenetic light within
the crystal.
“Xavier, show yourself!” Professor
Yori declared.
In the moment of those words’
utterance, several things happened at once. The boy’s toga slipped to the
floor. He smashed the Utaviium at his feet. A massive wave of energy rippled
through the dome, and for an instant, Phoebe was blinded by the intensity of
its accompanying light. When her vision recovered, a giant, red falcon stood
where the boy had been.
Spreading his
bejeweled fingers across the balcony’s railing, Professor Yori spoke down to
the majestic bird, “Son of Osiah, rise!” Phoebe watched a pair of iridescent
wings unfold sleekly, wings that from tip to tip spanned the width of the
stage. The falcon lifted and lowered them slowly. The students erupted with
applause as he took silent flight, faltered for a moment, then shot upward to a
long perch suspended from the dome’s ceiling by gold chains. All heads peered
up as, beating his wings inward to steady himself, the falcon took his place on
the perch next to a silver eagle and a black hawk.
Phoebe glanced to her side. She
saw Hayley’s eyes ablaze with her own excitement. Never before had she seen the
mind-thrilling spectacle of a first time Conversion.

10 Things You Probably Did Not Know About Me!

Hey everyone!

I am shaking it up a bit today and wanted to let you in on 10 little secrets that you most likely did not know about me…and if you did, then you are awesome!!!

10. I love doing laundry but hate putting it away!

I love the crisp, fresh smell of clean laundry and the satisfaction of watching it go into the washer to be cleaned….BUT…I DESPISE FOLDING IT!!! I hate folding it especially those damn socks that ALWAYS seem to lose their partner somewhere from the washer until the end??

9. I have 2 daughters.

Image may contain: 4 people, people smiling, outdoor

Alexandra is 19 and Savannah is 14. They literally are my whole world! Alex just started college this semester and is 2.5 hours away! I miss her like crazy!!!

8. My husband and I are high school sweethearts.

Yes, we are. TECHNICALLY… We met right after I graduated but he was still in his Junior year. Our love story is a long…exhausting one and maybe I will tell it to you some day..but not today.

7.  We rescued our dog, Harper.

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling

Harper is a pit mix that was rescued from Ohio. She, her Mom and her 5 siblings were living under the porch of an abandoned house. Once found, they were shipped here to PA because Ohio had BSL laws at the time. Not sure if they still do or not. Harper will be 5 in November and we just love her to pieces!!! She literally is my Baby and is always attached to my hip.

6. We have a Great Dane puppy!

Image may contain: dog

This is Winston. He just turned 6 months old and weighs in at a whopping 80 pounds! We adore his clumsy nature but sometimes…he is sooo bad!! Take regular puppy issues and times it by about 50…then you have a great dane puppy.

5. I have read my favorite book 8 times!

My absolute favorite “go-to” book is Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I adore that crazy Maddox and honestly never get tired of reading it. It still gives me those tummy butterflies that we all know and love.

4. I sell Chalk Couture.

ChalkCoutureCIRCLE

I am fairly new to CC, but if you do not know what it is…then you def need to check it out!! I spotted a video on a random group Facebook page and I WAS HOOKED!!! If you love doing crafts but feel like you do not have an iota of artsy talent…then you HAVE to run on over to my website and check it out!! Like my Facebook page…I will be doing my first LIVE demonstration soon!

3. I skim /read.

The girls that I work with always tease me that I do not read, I skim. I have a very hard time reading over all of the descriptive stuff, so, I tend to just read anything in quotes to see what everyone is saying. lol!! I am usually very capable of following along that way.

2. I hate spiders!

One way to get me to clear a room??? Release a spider. It does not matter the size or shape..I will be outta there!

1. I have a huge family!

The reason being is that both my parents and my husband’s parents are both divorced and remarried. This leads the way to step siblings and extra aunts/uncles and cousins. Holidays are fun filled existing of a couple of days to make sure we are able to travel around to see everyone.

Thanks for following along! Now you know more about me! Can you relate to any of the above? If so, let me know in the comments!

My Bariatric Surgery Story

This post is going to be a little different today. I am going to be sharing something very personal which I haven’t really even shared with my whole family as of yet.

PLEASE!
No judging!

I need to start off my story about a year ago in February 2016. I had been feeling pretty

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling
Me & hubby at the beach 2015

crappy about myself and really needed to change something in my life so that things would start looking up. A few people in my family had gotten bariatric surgery and even though I had thought about it, I never really had the urge to look into it deeper. But, something in the back of my mind told me that I needed a major change! My family doctor had been after me for years to lose weight and quit smoking. My blood pressure was on the verge of needing meds, I had sleep apnea and snored to beat the band and I had a fatty liver which apparently was not good. I took the GIANT leap and made an appointment with a Bariatric surgeon after much discussion with my husband and my children. I was actually really surprised at how much they had supported my decision.

The first appointment was NERVE WRACKING to say the least! I had to meet with the

Image may contain: 2 people
Me & hubby at the beach 2008

social worker to make sure that you are mentally sound and a good fit for the surgery. You also meet with a nutritionist to take down what you are eating now and what you will be eating after the surgery. You also meet with one of the Medical Assistants whom take a whole inventory of your past medical history. Then, the surgical coordinator whom talks about the different options for surgery and your insurance coverage. The whole appointment took about 3 hours and talk about overwhelming!! But, I was determined to become healthy no matter what it took. I weighed in at 249.5 pounds at this first appointment. This was the highest weight I had ever been!

So began my first break up with all things unhealthy for me. Starting with smoking:( On

Image may contain: indoor
me, 2010

April 5, 2016, I quit and haven’t looked back since! I have to say that quitting was probably the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life…but I did it. I cannot say that I do not miss it because I do…almost every day. But, I am very determined to stay away and I can honestly say that I do not miss spending my hard earned money on buying cigarettes! They have gotten so expensive!

Next, I had to get my sleep study done and see a cardiologist. The sleep study was not too

Image may contain: 3 people, people smiling, sky and outdoor
Me and Alex, 2014

bad. The worst part was being hooked up to all the wires and trying to sleep. The cardiologist was a piece of cake since I had not had any cardiac issues in the past. I also had to get a written letter from my family doctor, whom was ecstatic BTW, releasing me to have the surgery completed. I also had to lose 12 pounds to even be ready to schedule the surgery which was difficult in itself. After all this.. I was all set and ready to roll!

Lastly was to determine which surgery I wanted. The Sleeve or the Bypass? My surgeon left it up to me since I was on the borderline of needing one or the other. I decided to go with the sleeve which is irreversible but in the end was the better choice for me.

My surgery was scheduled for August 30, 2016 and I got to say that this was the day that changed my life! I was so nervous the night before. I recall just wandering around the

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling
Alex & I Prom, 2016

house sobbing because I was so nervous and it was like saying goodbye to the old me and not knowing what the new me was going to be like? But, even through my nervousness, I was still determined as ever because I had done so much to prepare for that day…nothing was going to stop me now.

My Mom and I had to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 AM, I was the first case of the day. I weighed in at 224.5 pounds.  The check in process was fairly simple and after getting the “feel good” med, I was good to go! I never was really in much “pain” per say but they do inject your abdomen with gas to   maneuver the machine inside you. This gas has no where to go, so it kind of just builds up until it gets released. That is the worst! The gas just kept sitting under my rib cage and I ended up sleeping in a chair for 2 nights. Also, I am not very

Image may contain: 2 people, drink and sunglasses
Alex & I, 2017

good with anesthesia, which leads me to get sick and this surgery was no exception which I had expected. So, normally you would go home the next day but I got to spend an extra glorious night in the hospital until I was able to keep down fluids. The med that they would give me for nausea made me VERY sleepy and I ended up sleeping right on through my family visiting.

Image may contain: 3 people, people smiling
Me and the girls from work, February 2017

The very first time eating was some broth and I remember feeling it literally hit my stomach in an explosion of fireworks. It did not hurt but felt funny. You could feel all liquids traveling down your esophagus into your stomach. It was the strangest feeling! I had gone down to 206.5 pounds in the first week of being home. They said I was a fast loser and it would slow down over time. THEY WERE RIGHT!

I have recently hit my one year surgiversary this year on August 30th. I am now down to fluctuating between 169 & 175 pounds. The surgeon is very happy with where I am and actually said that if I do not lose any more weight, that would be fine. I am right where I should be.

Am I happy? HELL YEAH I am! I am at the weight that I was when I graduated high

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, ocean, beach, sky, sunglasses, outdoor, nature and closeup
Me at the beach, 2017

school. I feel good and have a lot more energy. AND..no more c-pap machine for me! (I hated that thing) Was this an easy process? No way! And anyone whom thinks that surgery is the easy way out, has no idea. They can come talk to me for a minute or two. I would do this again in a heartbeat to feel the way I feel now. I have more self confidence and love taking selfies!

It has been a long road and one that I will continue on for the rest of my life. The process is forever. I have hit my goal weight but must maintain and sometimes I feel like that is the hardest part. I can now eat a bit more than I could in the beginning which is good but also scary as hell. I do not want to get back to where I once was. But for now, I will trudge on….

If you are considering the surgery or have ever considered it., I say go for it! If you have

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, outdoor

any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me! I am always here to listen and give advice on my experience if needed!

Thanks for listening!!

My Favorite/Most Popular posts and a GIVEAWAY!!!!

Hey y’all!

Today I thought that we would take a stroll down memory lane.

I know, I know! It has been a very long 6 years! Makes me tear up just thinking about it!

So let’s not waste any more time and just get right to it….

My very first post

My very first post was Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick. Way back in January of 2011 crescendo 2when I first started NightlyReading. It is funny to look back and realize that I had no idea of what I was doing. I just summarized the book a little…and done! It is quite embarassing!

Most Viewed Review

My most viewed review was Thoughtless & Effortless by SC Stephens.

Eventually, the two of you…” his voice broke and another tear fell on his cheek, “the two of you would get married, and have children, and have a great life.”
I fought back a sob. “And you? What happens to you in that scenario?”
“I…get by. And I miss you, every day,” he whispered.”

Ugh! Breaks my heart every time. These actually were really good reviews. I am kinda patting myself on the back right now! That must be why they have been viewed over 4,000 times.

Remember This?

Remember when someone stole my review and posted it as their own? I will never forget! This happened back in January of 2012. The GIFs have been removed but you can still get the picture of my rant. I have to say that this was my most commented on post! It kind of shook up the whole blogosphere! Beware…This type of thing is still happening! I not too long ago ran across someone on Twitter that had the same thing happen to them! If you want to see the post, you can go HERE

My Favorite Review

There was this stand alone called Hex: A Witch and an Angel Tale by Ramona Wray that I fell in love with and STILL was hoping for a sequel. I had won the book in a giveaway and honestly fell for the cover. It was adorable. You can see the review HERE

switch

Switch is the first book in an awesome NA series by Janelle Stalder. I hearted is so much that I wrote my review using all GIFs. I love that review and really worked hard on it. To see it, go HERE

Blogger Love

I do a little meme called Blogger Love (which I am trying to bring back so…if any blogger lovebloggers out there would like to be featured, please shoot me an email and we can get you on board). BL is where we feature a fellow blogger for a day. We do an interview and they can even review a book of their choice. It is fun meeting new bloggers. My very first BL was featuring Little Red Reads. I do not think Stephanie is still blogging but if you would like to check out my first BL, go HERE

My Co-Hosts

I have had many co-hosts through the years and have had a great experience with all of them. Diana, Kele, Lisa, Lacey, Priscilla, and Sam…thank you to all of you for helping the blog stay afloat for the past 6 years!!!

The Ultimate Book Tag

Hey everyone! Welcome! This tag was created by the lovely ladies at Chapter Chicks.

I will not be tagging anyone but if you would like to participate, please leave a link in the comments so that I can visit your blog and read your answers!

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Good question..it depends. If we are on the highway and going straight, then I have no problem reading in the car. BUT…if we are on a hilly back road, then NO WAY!!! I will definitely get sick!

2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Tough question?? I love anything by Jennifer L Armentrout or Janelle Stalder whom is an indie author. Janelle writes with a simplicity that I love while giving the reader an insight into all characters.

3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

Since I have never read HP! I guess I will have to go with Twilight.

1. Vampires

2. Werewolves

3. Edward Cullen

(Need I say More?)

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is it in (besides books…)?

I carry kind of a “purse” book bag of sorts and I always make sure that I can fit my kindle in there. I also carry a make up bag, perfume and lip gloss. I usually get made fun of for how big my bags have to be.

5. Do you smell your books?

umm…no?

 6. Books with or without little illustrations?

it doesn’t really make a difference to me either way.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing? (Ex. I read Twilight before I read HP and thought the writing was amazing but read HP and now think Twilight is a little bit of a joke.)

Fifty Shades of Grey!!!! I read the series a few years a go…and LOVED them!!! I fell head over heels for Christian and could not stop talking about this series. Then I decided to re-read again a year ago…and hated him and the book! The writing was really bad and the believability of the story was horrifyingly sad. I did see the movies and cannot say they were wonderful either. I like the storyline itself..it just needs a little help!

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

Not really?

I was an early reader and would read everything I could get my hands on…even stuff in school that the teachers were only supposed to have access to. The teachers told my parents that I needed to have access to more reading materials.

9. What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella (Twilight, #3.5)

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?

I am not sure but probably…

The Host (The Host, #1)

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

I had started to write a paranormal romance but stopped because…in my mind..it was awful!!! Not sure if I will pick it back up?

12. When did you get into reading?

I have always enjoyed reading but had a very hard time finding books that really kept my interest. Until someone had suggested…yup…Twilight! I devoured the books and discovered the YA genre (which is not just for kids) and could not stop myself!

13. What is your favorite classic book?

I have not really read any classics except the ones read in high school!!!

So, I would have to say..Romeo & Juliet

14. In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?

Loved English in school!!!

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated…what would you do?

I would just thank them and donate it to the library.

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

Fire & Flood (Fire & Flood, #1)

17. What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while filming?

I haven’t actually filmed in a really long time but I always say…”um” and “like”…ALOT!! It would take me forever to edit because I always had to delete so much of those!

18. What is your favorite word?

I do not think that I have a favorite word?? I do say LOL a lot though!

19. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I would say none but I am sure my kids would say all of the above!

20. Vampires or Fairies? Why?

ummm…vampires!!! Because they are hot! Duh!!

21. Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

ugh? This one I have no answer for?? I am not really into either??

22. Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Again…see answer for #20 above!

23. Zombies or Vampires?

This one I will have to say ZOMBIES!!! I will read or watch ANYTHING that includes zombies. They have been a fascination since I was a kid!

 24. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

both! I love some love triangles but I also love forbidden love too! I just can’t choose between the two!

25. AND FINALLY: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

And again…both! It depends on what genre the book is?

There you have it folks!

Remember to leave a link in the comments if you decide to join in the fun!

Review: Poise by Janelle Stalder

Poise (The Balance Series Book 2)Poise by Janelle Stalder

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Of course I loved this book…like I would expect anything less from Janelle??

Gah! I do not even know what to say because I do not want to give ANYTHING away! Ms. Stalder did a fantastic job of not giving out ANY info with her blurb for this book so you…the reader…have zero idea of what you are walking into and can I tell you that it is a big doozy!!!!

I can tell you that I loved this book as much as the first. I fell in love with a certain character all over again. Was very annoyed with another, and my heart broke for a third. The story continues with action, drama and heart ache. All of the special things that we adore Janelle for giving us.

The ending gave me a huge slap upside the head…(another reason why we keep going back to the author’s writing) that I am once again left waiting on the next installment. Damn you authors for being so brilliant! Joking!!! Or am I? Love you Janelle!

5 Books I Would Buy if Someone Gave Me a Loaded Gift Card!

too_many_books_journalWho doesn’t love receiving gift cards? I love to get them and to give them. Everyone in my family knows that they will always receive a gift card from me for any holiday/birthday. They are 1) easy… and 2) you get to pick what you want. Win win..am I right? My only problem is that my family has not caught onto the hint as of yet. All it takes to make me happy is an Amazon gift card. OR.. they just think that I have enough books already??? But..I know as well as all of you, that you can NEVER have enough books!

This discussion was swiped from those great gals over at The Broke and Bookish. They have an awesome Top Ten going but I switched it up a bit and changed it to top five. So without further ado… here are the top five books that I would buy if someone gave me a loaded gift card….

5.

glass sword

Glass Sword(Red Queen 2) by Victoria Aveyard

I read the first in the series AND LOVED IT!!! Not sure why I have not picked this one up yet. I guess it just got lost in the pile of …books I have to read yet.

4.

red rising

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

I have heard great things about this one. I have the second book sitting on my shelf since I found it at a local cheap store for $1.99. I tend to pick up 2nd or even 3rd books in a series even if I had not read the first one, if they are cheap. I will get around to getting this one at some point…I hope!

3.

one of us is lying

One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus

I heard that this book was fantastic. I have been on a thriller kick lately and this one just seems like it would fit the bill.

2.

omega

Omega (Infinity 2) by Jus Accardo

I was part of the blog tour for the first book in this series but somehow missed out on the second one?? I could not stop raving about book one and cannot wait to get my hands on book 2. I may have to run and buy it after writing up this post. with or without the gift card!

1.

hp

Harry Potter Box Set by JK Rowling

SHOCKER!!!! I have not read these books yet. I think they scare me due to their size and because they are sooooo over hyped…what if I don’t like them?? I know that some day I will have to jump on the band wagon but until then…I remain oblivious as to what the hell butterbeer is??

There you have it. So the first gift card I get… I will come right back here and check out this list before I place my order. How about you? If you received a gift card what is the first book you would place in your cart??

Down the TBR Hole 1!

down-the-tbr-hole

Hi y’all!I spotted this book meme around the blogosphere and I believe it was started on Lost in a Story ? My TBR shelf on Goodreads is actually hideous and I really need to do something about it! So here goes…

RULES:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous..which I am not) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Fairy Tale by Cyn Balog

Another that was added a very long time ago. I had read a different book by this author and I didn’t really get into it, so it kind of turned me off and I just couldn’t bring myself to pick up anything else.

Books Reviewed: 5

Kept: 1

Deleted: 4

New TBR total: 1569 (That’s a lot of books to weed through!)

Needless to say, we will be continuing this meme until the TBR has been completely looked at. I have been on GR for 7 years and have a bad habit of adding to my TBR!!

ARC Review: Roar by Cora Carmack

Roar (Stormheart, #1)Roar by Cora Carmack

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

DNF!

I really wanted to like this one but I felt like it started off with a BANG, then fell flat somewhere half way in. I got bored, put it down and have no desire to pick it back up.

As a wise woman recently told me….”you can’t like them all”!

But I know plenty of people that have loved this book! Maybe I am the exception, so please read it for yourself and let me know if you loved it and if I am just in a major book slump?
