Reading Habits Book Tag

Hello everyone!

I came across this tag and thought it would be fun to do! This tag was originally created by TheBookJazz you can check out her video here, but I personally saw it over at Dreamland Book Blog and you can see her post here

Reading Habits

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
My room. I literally can’t read anywhere else in my house or I will get distracted by everything and everyone.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Bookmark, definitely. My bookmark collection is extensive and beautiful. I’m obsessed with them.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you
have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?
I can just stop reading. I don’t really care about where I stop.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
Only when i’m at school. I will listen to music while a read, so I don’t get distracted by other people’s conversations

6. One book at a time or several at once?
Several at once. I usually read by moods, and if one book reaches a point I don’t like I will pick up a different one.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
I prefer to read at home, so i can be cozy.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
silently in my head, unless I read a passage that I really like it makes me laugh then I have to read it out loud.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
Only if i’m bored with the book. But sometimes I like to read the last page of the book before I actually start it.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
Keep the spines new. Unless it’s a Mass Market Paperback, then I have to crack the spines

11. Do you write in your books?
Yes! I tab, write, highlight, circle. I do everything, to me it’s a sure fire sign that a book is well loved.

12. When do you find yourself reading? Morning, afternoon, evening, whenever you get the chance or all the time?
In the evening, and maybe right when I wake up before I get out of bed.

13. What is your best setting to read in?
In my bed, surrounded by a mountain of blankets.

14. What do you do first – Read or Watch?
Depends. Sometime i’m like I have to read the book before I watch, but it doesn’t happen. Sometimes I read because I watched the movie or TV show.

15. What form do you prefer? Audiobook, E-book or physical book?
These days it’s E-book. I’m addicted to my Kindle right now. But physical books will always have a place in my personal library.

16. Do you have a unique habit when you read?
I make faces. It’s why I almost always read at home.

17. Do book series have to match?
ideally, yes. in actuality i’m going to get whatever I cheaper.

Reader Confession Tag

Another tag that I saw from Kayla over at kdrewkthebookworm! I was never much into tags but lately….I have been having more and more fun with them!

1. Have you ever damaged a book?

I have never damaged a book on purpose. (Does that count?!?!) I have already accidentally got food on a book while trying to read and eatreading and eating photo: NOM.gif, or layed my book in something that was on the table.

2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

running book photo: more running book1clear.png

No, but I have lost a borrowed book once! (seriously, I think it just grew legs and ran away! I still have no idea where it went?)

3. How long does it take you to read a book?

Usually I can knock off 2 books a week as long as they are something that really interest me and I find fascinating. (which is usually a good romancey book or dystopian) If I am not into it, it could take me all week sometimes longer to finish. At that point, I may DNF it!

4. Books that you haven’t finished?

I just couldn’t finish this one!! I really tried for months but I just got really bored and had to stop!17901125

5. Hyped/popular books you didn’t like only thought were OK?

Don’t kill me….image I could not understand these characters! I did do a whole post on it and you can read that HERE if you like?

6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

No, I am pretty open about what I am reading. I do not really care what anyone else thinks.

7. How many books do you own?

Hmm, tough question….This is what my books looked like the last time I had tried to count. I think that it was 554?

8. Are you a fast or slow reader?

I think that we established this already? See question #3

9. Do you like to buddy read?

YES!!! When I was really involved on Goodreads, we buddies photo: thFxgjkAbrtHajjxq.gifhad a very small group of us that would buddy read. We actually read a couple series together and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!  I really miss it and that group of gals!

SO, if any of you would like to buddy read with me!!! PLEASE let me know!

10. Do you read better in your head or out loud?

In my head. I am always in character when reading. I actually recently did a post about this which you can read HERE!

11. If you were only allowed to own ONE book, what would it be and why?

AGh Gah! This is a horrid question!!!

The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag!

Hi Everyone! *waves frantically*

I saw this tag from Kayla over at kdrewkthebookworm and wanted to take part.(you guys need to go over and follow her! She is all kinds of awesome!)  I was not tagged by anyone but….I may be sneaky and tag a few others. So just kick back, grab a drink (I prefer ice tea) and relax as you get a little bit inside the head of me…Muahahaha! (just kidding)

1. How long have you been a blogger for?

I’ve been blogging for about 5 1/2 years!!! WOW!! I cannot believe that it has been that Heatherlong! I started in January of 2011 and if you go back and look at some of my old reviews…they are utterly frightening! I had no idea of what I was doing and just decided to wing it!

2. At what point do you think you will stop?

I have no plans on stopping at any time in the near future?? I hope that I continue to blog until I am a decrepit 80 year old lady.

3. What is the best part?

Sharing your passion with others! I love when someone leaves me a comment that they agree or even disagree because I love to chat about my love for books!!! Especially YA books! I really do not have someone to fangirl with. My daughter reads YA but she is more a contemporary reader while I love me some Fantasy/Dystopian/ZOMBIES, so we usually read different books!

4. What is the worst part?

thumbnail_FullSizeRenderHmmm, tough question!!! I would say the huge TBR!!! It is very easy to get overwhelmed by an enormous TBR! As you can see, this is my current situation and this does not include ebooks! Very quickly those review books add up and although you are sooo excited to have an ARC and this book is suppose to be the next best thing, you find yourself wishing that you could just read a book for fun…one that you were dying to read last year and just didn’t get to yet. (sorry for the ramble!!) This leads to burn out, which I have gone through several times over the course of the past 5 years. Every once in a while, I take a majorly needed hiatus and clean out my TBR, get rid of the old to prepare for the new, take a blogging break and focus on getting back on track!

5. Who’s your book crush?

Oh boy! Do you have a couple of days for me to list them all?? I would have to say that my BD Quoteinitial thought and this character has ALWAYS been my favorite……Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster by Jaime McGuire! I have read that book at least 5 times and it never gets old for me! AND….I was quoted on the first edition! I am very proud of that! (and yes, I do own a copy of said edition! Someday, I will meet Jaime and said edition will get signed!)

6. What author would you like to have on your blog?

My favorite author of all time is Jennifer L. Armentrout. I have met her in person and I was able to interview her for my youtube channel. (if you haven’t seen it, head on over to youtube and check it out) but….I would love to have Colleen Hoover or Leigh Bardugo or even Cassandra Clare on the blog. That would be pure awesomesauce!!

7. What do you wear when you write your blog?

nightlyreading-6.jpgVery interesting question…I am sure you are all just dying to know the answer…CLOTHES you perv!!! Of course I wear clothes!!! LOL, what kind of blog do you think this is?

8. How long does it take you to prepare a post?

I can usually knock them out quickly unless there are a lot of graphics or links that I have to add, those take a bit longer.

9. How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

I love that everyone is just so friendly and open! I feel like I have a ton of friends and have h.leemet some amazing people since blogging. There are some bad apples out there, those that like to take advantage but that happens everywhere no matter what your hobby.

10. What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?

Be Yourself!!! Try not to be like everyone else. Pick your own thing that makes you unique and go with it! It doesn’t matter about your following, what matters is your content. AND lastly….the most important of all……

So, I think I am going to just choose one person to tag, this person is the very first friend that I made way back when in 2011 after I had just started out. She was just starting also and we hit it off right out of the gate. She is still blogging too and even though we have never met and rarely chat, she has helped me quite a bit over the past 5 years with lots of advice when things got a little out of hand…. that person is:

Kayleigh from K-Books!!!

You guys should really check out her blog. She has amazing and thoughtful reviews and she is the sweetest!

Thanks for listening to my ramblings. Let me know your thoughts….Do you have a blog? Link up in the comments so that we can check out yours!
