P.C. and Kristin Cast, the #1 New York Times bestselling authors of the House of Night phenomenon, return to the scene with The Dysasters—the first action-packed novel in a new paranormal fantasy series.

Adoptive daughter of a gifted scientist, Foster Stewart doesn’t live a “normal” life, (not that she’d want to). But controlling cloud formations and seeing airwaves aren’t things most eighteen year olds can do.

Small town star quarterback and quintessential dreamy boy next door, Tate “Nighthawk” Taylor has never thought much about his extra abilities. Sure, his night vision comes in handy during games, but who wouldn’t want that extra edge?

From the moment Foster and Tate collide, their worlds spiral and a deadly tornado forces them to work together, fully awakening their not-so-natural ability – the power to control air.

As they each deal with the tragic loss of loved ones, they’re caught by another devastating blow – they are the first in a group of teens genetically manipulated before birth to bond with the elements, and worse… they’re being hunted.

Now, Foster and Tate must fight to control their abilities as they learn of their past, how they came to be, who’s following them, and what tomorrow will bring… more DYSASTERS?

I was super intrigued by the premise of this book and wondered how this was going to play out? Controlling elements? Quite unique and different, to me at least. I have never read a book where the characters had this power so I was super excited to be invited to this tour and even more excited to actually start reading it!

I really enjoyed Foster as a character. She was tough and angry on the outside but really super squishy & lovable on the inside. She had been through a lot in her short lifetime and you can really tell that it took a toll on her.

Tate was your typical teenage boy. The football player and all around boy next door type. He gives off a very jocky vibe but he is super sweet and sometimes just tries a little too hard. I felt so much for him since he was completely not use to his life being so out of control and just wanted to help people.

The aspect of controlling air, fire, water and earth reminds me so much of the movie The Craft. You know, the part where they start chanting…“Earth, air, fire, water, earth, air, fire, water.”

The action scenes were done perfectly and the whole back story helped the reader understand exactly what was going on. I loved the side characters, especially Mark. He seemed like the most normal of all the evil villians. (if a villian could be normal?)

The book is written in several different POV’s which of course, I adore, since this lets you see all aspects of the story and does not leave you guessing.

Thank you to Wednesday books for the ARC copy for this review and I cannot wait to see where this book leads us!
